Here you are in the Ardèche, ready to discover an area very different from the Rhône Valley. This itinerary takes you to the heart of the Eyrieux Valley, as well as linking up with the Le Cheylard-Lamastre section. This picture-postcard valley was for a long time known as the “pink valley” because of its abundant peach blossom at the end of the winter.
You’ll discover these orchards, cultivated farmland and open countryside. With their shops, the villages of Saint-Laurent-du-Pape and Saint-Fortunat-sur-Eyrieux give you a chance to fill up your rucksacks or empty stomachs (village centres 200m from the track). The playground and mini-stadium just by La Dolce Via at Saint-Fortunat are also an ideal place to stop before going on to Ollières-sur-Eyrieux.
Note: Place Jarjat in La-Voulte-sur-Rhône (the starting point of La Dolce Via) is also the marketplace. Don’t park there on a Friday between 5am and 2pm!
SEVERE WEATHER
Due to heavy rainfall in recent days, some sections of the Dolce Via may be slightly slippery. Although we have received no reports of closures or damage, we recommend that you remain vigilant.
Commune de Belsentes : Following the bad weather that weakened the Minus bridge, enabling residents of the hamlet of La Mûre to join the D120, the Dolce Via, from Trouiller-le-Bas to La Plaine, has temporarily become a shared road for light vehicles and cyclists. Normally closed to motorized vehicles on this stretch, this measure is being implemented to ease traffic flow.
